You want to know what your car is worth without signing up for anything. Every tool online gives you a range with a thousand-dollar spread, and every dealer wants you sitting in an office before they say a number. A free vehicle appraisal in Columbus should be exactly what it sounds like: somebody looks at your car and tells you.

When to get an appraisal

Get one before you list the car privately, so you know whether the asking price is realistic and what a buyer is going to find.

Get one before you trade it in, so the dealership's number has something to be measured against.

Get one if you're deciding whether to fix something. A repair that costs more than it adds is worth knowing about before you pay for it.

And get one if you're just curious what you're sitting on. Plenty of people do that, and it costs nothing.

How the appraisal works

Send your vehicle details — year, make, model, mileage, and whether there's a loan on it. Takes about two minutes.

We come back within 24 hours, usually faster. If the car is here, our team goes through it in person: exterior, interior, tires and brakes, a diagnostic scan, the vehicle history, and the underbody. If getting here is difficult, an at-home appraisal does the same thing at your address.

Then someone sits down and tells you what they found and how each item affected the number. You hear it out loud and can ask about any of it.

If you want the value rather than the sale, a market value assessment answers just that question.

What affects the number

Year, trim, and mileage set the baseline. Trim matters more than most people expect — two of the same model can be thousands apart.

After that it's condition and history. Tires and brakes, because the next owner pays for those. Accident and service records. Stored diagnostic codes. Rust underneath, which in Ohio is often the single biggest factor.

We price against what comparable vehicles are actually selling for in central Ohio right now. There is no charge for any of this and no obligation at the end.

Why our appraisal is worth the trip

We're a licensed Ohio dealer, BBB accredited with an A+ rating, rated 4.8 out of 5 across 294 reviews.

The number we give you is the number. We don't quote high on the phone and revise it once you're standing here.

If you already have an offer from somewhere else, bring it — we'll beat it or hand you $250. Terms apply.

More on the process: how vehicle appraisal works at our Columbus buy center.

What Ohio does to a car's value

Appraising a car in central Ohio is not the same as appraising one in Arizona, and the difference is salt.

The roads here are treated for roughly half the year. Salt collects in the seams underneath and works on the frame rails, brake lines, and fuel lines. A ten-year-old car can look clean from eye level and be badly compromised below. It's the most common reason an Ohio seller is surprised by their number — and, going the other way, a genuinely clean underbody is worth real money here in a way it wouldn't be somewhere dry.

Freeze and thaw does the rest. The potholes that show up every February bend wheels, wear struts, and knock alignment out. We check for it because a buyer will.

We appraise for people throughout Columbus, Dublin, Westerville, Worthington, Powell, Hilliard, Upper Arlington, Gahanna, Grove City, and Delaware.
